Priorities Include Reigniting Urgent Action on Housing Crisis, Building Coalitions to Advance Homebuilding, Easing Housing Costs
San Diego, CA (November 12, 2025) — The Building Industry Association of San Diego County (BIA) today announced the appointment of Aimee Faucett as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Lori Holt Pfeiler, who is retiring after years of distinguished leadership and service to the region’s building community.
Faucett will focus on ensuring the building industry has a powerful, unified voice, pro-housing voice that shapes policy and public conversations. Her priorities include reigniting urgency around the housing crisis, ensuring the BIA leads strong coalitions to counter anti-housing campaigns, and empowering BIA members to educate leaders and the public about the real costs and challenges of homebuilding.
“I’m excited to work alongside BIA’s talented members and partners to strengthen our pro-housing coalition, stop policies that hurt the ability to build homes, and ensure BIA is leading the way with smart, proactive solutions,” Faucett said.
“Housing is at the core of our region’s biggest challenge: whether San Diego can be affordable or if San Diegans are going to be priced out of their own community,” Faucett said. “We need to bring back the sense of urgency around the housing crisis, because while progress has been made, the job isn’t done and we have to keep up the momentum.”
Faucett will officially begin her new role on December 15, 2025. She was selected by the BIA Board of Directors after an extensive executive search.
“Aimee’s depth of experience and leadership across government, business, and advocacy make her perfectly suited to lead the BIA at this pivotal time,” said Brendan Hayes, BIA Board Chair. “She understands the challenges facing our industry, and will bring renewed urgency to addressing San Diego’s housing crisis.”
Faucett brings 30 years of executive leadership experience spanning government, business, and civic organizations across the San Diego region. A well-known and respected leader in San Diego civic life, she has built a career advancing initiatives that strengthen the regional economy, promote housing opportunity, and foster collaboration between public and private sectors.
“Aimee recognizes the importance of building coalitions and educating policymakers and the public about what it truly costs to build housing in San Diego County,” said Nick Lee, incoming BIA Board Chair. “We couldn’t have asked for a better leader to help us stop policies that make homes harder to build, and proactively advance solutions that keep our region economically strong.”
Most recently, Faucett served as president of Agenda Setting, LLC, advising organizations on policy advocacy, strategic planning, and organizational alignment. Previously, she served as deputy chief of staff and chief of staff to two San Diego mayors, where she worked closely with civic and industry leaders to promote housing, infrastructure, and economic growth. Additionally, she spent years serving multiple San Diego city councilmembers. Faucett also served as chief operating officer of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, where she led operational and policy initiatives to support the local business community.
Faucett said she is honored to take the helm of the BIA at a moment when collaboration and clear communication about the region’s housing challenges are more important than ever.
“I want to empower our members to educate the public and policymakers on what it really takes to address our housing emergency — and to fight back when new regulations drive costs even higher,” Faucett said. “While small but loud opposition attempts to block new homes, we’re going to ensure there’s a strong, united voice fighting for doing the right thing. We will be unapologetic and unwavering as we work to create homes that San Diegans are counting on.”
The BIA extends its deepest gratitude to Lori Holt Pfeiler for her years of outstanding leadership and service. Under her guidance, the organization strengthened its advocacy voice, deepened member engagement, and helped drive progress on housing policy across San Diego County.
