2022 Single Family Electric Readiness

Electrification is critical for building decarbonization since it can reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving air quality. In preparation of electrification, the 2022 California Title 24, Part 6 Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Energy Code) has new electric readiness measures. This fact sheet explains the 2022 Energy Code requirements for newly constructed single-family and multifamily buildings with gas-fired appliances, furnaces, and water heaters to be ready for the future installation of electric appliances and equipment.
