Following the City of San Diego hearing a fee that would dramatically limit the ability of landlords to recoup cost by charging fees and other screening requirements, the County presented its own policy that was before the Board on Tuesday. Introduced by Supervisors Montgomery Steppe and Aguirre, the policy mimics the same points as the City and presents the additional challenge to industry that we may end up with two separate policies throughout the region. We have requested a joint working group of County and City staff to realize a more practical policy that reflects the needs of industry, and have expressed our opposition as written to both.
