The Building Industry Association of San Diego County (BIA) has endorsed Bart Miesfeld for Chula Vista City Attorney, the organization announced today. “We know Bart will provide sound legal advice that will allow the city to develop and implement housing policies in a lawful and efficient manner,” said Lori Holt Pfeiler, President and CEO of the BIA said. “Chula Vista ranks 4th in U.S. metro areas with the lowest number of rental properties that are affordable with an average salary. Everyone in Chula Vista deserves an affordable place to live. Leaders like Bart Miesfeld will take action to ensure that all types of homes can be built in all areas of the city, without delay.” Miesfeld, who served as Chula Vista’s City Attorney from 2008 to 2010, said: “I’m honored to receive the BIA’s endorsement. There’s no organization more committed to building the homes and apartments our region desperately needs than the BIA. I’m running for city attorney to bring experienced, tested leadership to the office.” After working as an attorney with a large private firm, Bart joined the Chula Vista City Attorney’s office to handle litigation as a Deputy City Attorney. Bart quickly rose through the ranks to Assistant City Attorney, Senior Assistant City Attorney, and was eventually appointed by the City Council as the City Attorney in 2008. After helping the city navigate some incredibly difficult times, Miesfeld stepped away from the City Attorney’s office a few years ago to focus on family and continue his work representing cities and communities in the private sector. In addition to the BIA, Miesfeld is endorsed by a growing list of local leaders including former Chula Vista mayors Mary Salas and Cheryl Cox, former supervisor Greg Cox, and State Senator Steve Padilla.
